Meet the Candidates

Lorena Loayza is an advocate and community leader committed to giving back to Ward B for over 30 years. Lorena was three years old when her family immigrated to the West Side from Bolivia, and she is now raising her three children here. As the Executive Director of the McGinley Square Special Improvement District, she provided support for and earned the trust of over 100 small businesses during the COVID-19 pandemic. As your next City Councilmember, Lorena is committed to delivering:

  • More affordable housing and stable property taxes to help longtime residents stay in their city.
  • Responsible development, so developers are held accountable to our community and we all benefit.
  • Safer and cleaner streets with more responsive city services, more parking options, and more responsive public safety.
  • Fighting for better quality of life, including more city recreation funding for our youth and improved support of our neighborhood businesses.
