The Mayor’s most basic responsibility is to deliver effective public services to the city’s residents and taxpayers. These fundamental responsibilities are not being fulfilled, with huge impacts on everyday quality of life for residents. 911 calls go unanswered, applications for City permits languish without action for months, trash goes uncollected and fills our streets and sidewalks, and potholes destroy axles.
As Mayor, James Solomon will deliver a government that works, and make Jersey City the model for the delivery of public services in New Jersey. He will give the public true transparency about how well the city is doing on customer service, and hold senior officials and City contractors accountable for achieving the performance targets that residents deserve. The corporations with city contracts that have made money off the City while delivering poor services know this—that’s why Regional Industries, the City’s trash pickup vendor, has already donated $4,500 to Jim McGreevey’s campaign, just to give one example.
