Mayor Solomon Announces Co-Governance Committees to Deepen Community Feedback in First 100 Days

Community leaders and subject-area experts to partner with Policy Committees and connect Jersey City residents to the administration’s agenda

JERSEY CITY, NJ (January 29, 2026) — Mayor James Solomon today announced the launch of the Transition Co-Governance Committees, a new body of community leaders and subject-area experts who will work alongside the administration’s Transition Policy Committees to engage the broader Jersey City community in shaping the city’s direction during the Mayor’s first 100 days and beyond.

The Co-Governance Committee serves as the transition’s community feedback mechanism, ensuring that actions and goals set by the Solomon Administration meet the needs of the community and are decided by the community.

“When we launched our transition, I said that delivering on our promises would require more than policy expertise—it would require partnership with the people of Jersey City,” said Mayor James Solomon. “The Co-Governance Committee reflects our belief that good government isn’t just something we do for residents—it’s something we do with them. These leaders will help us listen, learn, and ensure that every neighborhood has a voice in building the Jersey City we all deserve.”

The Co-Governance Committee will serve as community feedback to the Policy Committee and administration’s policy work building a policy agenda. Like the Transition Policy Committees, the Co-Governance Committees are focused on seven policy areas – Public Safety; Housing and Economic Development; City Assets, Sustainability, and Street Safety; Transit and Transportation; Education and Youth; Arts and Culture; and Health and Human Services—to ensure community perspectives inform the development of the First 100 Days Plan and First-Term Action Plan.

The Policy Committees bring together a diverse group of subject matter experts, community leaders, and civic stakeholders who contribute their expertise, perspectives, and insights to ensure a rigorous and inclusive process for shaping the Administration’s early policy agenda.

The Co-Governance Committee complements this work by connecting that expertise directly to the voices and priorities of Jersey City residents.

The Co-Governance Committee’s first meeting will convene on January 30, 2026.
